3 tips to breathe new life into your space

Sometimes, all your space needs is a little refresh — not a full makeover. Whether you’re feeling stuck with your décor or just craving something new, these simple changes can instantly shift the mood of your space (and how you feel in it).

Here are my top three go-to tips to breathe new life into any room:

1. Change up your framed art

Art has a way of transforming energy in a space. Try swapping out framed pieces for something new — a print you’ve been saving, a photo from your travels, or even your kiddo's pre-school art (almost anything looks good in a frame!) My personal favourite is thrifting picture books and cutting out images that you feel called to. (I recently did this and shared it on Instagram.) If your walls are bare, adding framed art instantly adds depth and personality. Think of your walls as an ever-evolving gallery — one that reflects who you are and what you love right now.

Tip: You don’t need to spend a lot. Even rearranging existing pieces or switching frames between rooms can make a big difference.

2. Add mood lighting

Lighting changes everything. It sets the tone, creates ambiance, and can make a room feel cozy, romantic, or invigorating depending on the time of day. Layer your lighting — mix floor lamps, table lamps, candles, and

warm-toned bulbs.

Consider a dimmer switch or soft, diffused lighting in areas where you unwind like your living or bed room.

Think of lighting as the jewelry of your home — it adds warmth, glow, and a touch of magic.

3. Rearrange your furniture

This one is my favourite no-cost, high-impact way of completely changing how your space feels. Moving furniture around invites a new flow of energy and perspective. Try pulling pieces away from the wall, experimenting with different layouts, or creating new zones for reading, chatting, or working.

Sometimes, all it takes is moving your couch to a new angle or placing a chair by a sunny window to make your space feel brand new.

Refreshing your home doesn’t have to be about spending — it’s about noticing, reimagining, and playing with what you already have.

Take a look around your space today — what’s one small change you could make that might shift the mood?
